BLUE PLANET ALLIANCE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, COHORT II

The second cohort of the Blue Planet Alliance Fellowship Program convened in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 5–10, 2024. We welcomed 40 Fellows from across the globe — including Bermuda, Dominica, Fiji, Grenada, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, Puerto Rico, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu — for a week-long conference focused on advancing their respective countries toward a 100% renewable-energy future.

Over five days, the Fellows engaged with more than 25 esteemed speakers, representing Hawaii’s leading voices in legislation, regulation, and academia, alongside thought leaders from the public and private sectors and civil society. The program featured dynamic presentations, interactive breakout sessions, and rich opportunities for resource sharing and cross-island collaboration.

The week culminated in a special farewell reception at Washington Place, where Hawaii Governor Josh Green and First Lady Jaime Kanani Green graciously welcomed the Fellows into their residence to close the program in true island spirit. In a powerful close to the week, Dominica, Grenada, and Vanuatu signed Blue Planet Climate Agreements — formally committing to transition their islands to 100% renewable energy by 2045.
