A PLEDGE TO OUR KEIKI - HONOLULU, HAWAII (JULY 2023)

Our partner Peace Boat arrived in Hawaii with 1,400 passengers in July 2023, and encouraged them to sign the new "Pledge to Our Keiki." This new pledge — a joint initiative between Kanu Hawaii, Peace Boat US, and Blue Planet Alliance — is a promise by visitors to Hawaii that they will respect the delicate ecosystem, the land, and the environment, and protect it for the future generation of Hawaiians, the keiki (children).

THE SUSTAINABILITY EVENT - AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS (JUNE 2023)

Our BPA partner GSES hosted this exciting gathering in the Netherlands, bringing together climate experts from a variety of disciplines. And our founder Henk Rogers spoke about his journey from gaming to sustainability, as well as the GSES and Blue Planet Alliance partnership.

WORLD OCEANS DAY 2023 - NEW YORK (JUNE 2023)

At UN Headquarters and around New York City, this week-long observation of the importance of oceans and their ecosystems dovetailed with so many of BPA’s initiatives — and we participated and hosted a number of events, from the world premiere of a South African animated film about the spirits of the sea to a beach cleanup in Coney Island, with the participation of our media partner, Brooklyn Story Lab.

The UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) 2022 — Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt (NOVEMBER 2022)

The UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) took place November 6-18, 2022. The gathering presented an opportunity for Blue Planet Alliance to join stakeholders from all over the world to come together to find concrete solutions to the global climate emergency, including on mitigation, adaptation and resilience, loss and damage and climate finance.

UNITED NATIONS OCEAN CONFERENCE 2022 - LISBON, PORTUGAL (JUNE - JULY 2022)

The UN Ocean Conference took place in Lisbon, Portugal on June 27 - July 1, 2022, in an effort to help better regulate the water that covers 71% of the planet’s surface.

World Oceans Day Beach Cleanup 2022 - New York (JUNE 2022)

On June 11, 2022, BPA Global Ambassadors facilitated and participated in a beach clean-up, yoga, and picnic lunch at Coney Island. We worked to preserve the ocean and our beautiful coastline by organizing and participating in this clean-up project. Participants were encouraged to bike to the event.

Earthx 2022 - Dallas, TEXAS (APRIL 2022)

On April 22, 2022 (Earth Day), the Blue Planet Alliance team participated in the UN SDG Panel Discussion on Earth Day at EarthX moderated by Emilie McGlone of Peace Boat US. As our partner, we co-hosted an exhibit space over the weekend talking about the importance of SDG7 (Affordable and Sustainable Energy for all), SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life below water). On April 14, 2022, Blue Planet Alliance & Planet Home hosted an Eco Sprint in Palau to support islands to move to 100% renewable energy by 2045. To reach 100%, we'll bring together local delegates, thinkers & business and environmental leaders to design roadmaps to build scalable solutions.

the 2022 Conference on Island Sustainability: GUAm (APRIL 2022)

On April 8, 2022, our founder, Henk Rogers, addressed the University of Guam Conference on Island Sustainability today. The 13th edition of the annual conference — the theme of which was "Wind in Our Sails to Sustainable 2030" — took place in a hybrid format — both in person at the Hyatt Regency Guam and also via livestream.

The United Nations is driving a global effort called the Decade of Action, which seeks to improve life for all people and the health of the planet from 2020 to 2030 by working toward 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Henk addressed Guam's commitment to renewable energy, and how vital a role the island is playing on the road to replacing fossil fuels with clean energy.
