Germany Ramps up commitment to renewable energy
Germany announced today that it was speeding up its commitment to renewable energy.
In November, the three parties that make up the coalition that runs the German government agreed to a set of broad goals to more prominently integrate renewable energy into the country’s energy plan.
But since Russia invaded Ukraine, Germany has recognized a need to diversify its energy sources away from Russia, and today’s announcement promises the country will receive 80% of its energy from renewables by 2030. This puts the country on track to be near 100% renewable by 2035.
