EMPOWERING ISLANDS’ JOURNEY TO 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY

Islands stand on the frontlines of climate and energy challenges, yet they have the power to lead with secure, stable and clean energy systems. This is the purpose of this campaign by Blue Planet Alliance together with Greening The Islands Foundation.

The 100x100 Campaign supports islands to take political commitment before 2030, build a tailored roadmap, strengthen capacity and move from ambition to real implementation toward 100% renewables by 2045.

It also brings together a community of supporters who contribute expertise, knowledge and capacity building to help committed islands succeed.

Islands face unique vulnerabilities, yet they hold the power to lead the world’s transition to sustainability.

Through 100×100, we recognize islands as powerful laboratories for change, proving that renewable energy is the foundation for long-term prosperity and resilience.

THE MISSION

The campaign supports islands every step of the way to:

Commit 100 islands to 100% renewable energy before 2030

Develop a tailored roadmap supported by expert partners

Islands set to achieve their goal by 2045

WHY IT MATTERS

Overcoming islands’ key challenges:

Short-term planning and fragmented policies

Limited access to finance and technology

High perceived
investment risk

Insufficient local capacity

Through a single, coordinated framework, the campaign creates enabling conditions for innovation, financing and capacity-building, helping islands become self-sufficient and climate-resilient models.

TOGETHER WE CAN EMPOWER 100 ISLANDS TO COMMIT TO 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY BEFORE 2030.
